The Aircraft Structures Designer III reports directly to the Engineering Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work in conjunction with Structures Engineers to design alterations to aircraft structure, systems, equipment, and furnishings.
  • Build or revise 3D CAD models to support design activities.
  • Produce, revise, and check detailed part, assembly and installation drawings.
  • Prepare, revise, and check design and support documents.
  • Ensure all design and administrative paperwork related to project work is maintained in accordance with the company DAPM and Engineering Procedures Manual.
  • Support other departments such as MRO, Avionics, Sales, and Customer Support.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering or Engineering Manager.

  • Diploma in aerospace, mechanical engineering or industrial design (other qualifications such as an engineering or technology degree/diploma may be accepted).
  • Tech, CET, or equivalent designation from a recognized Canadian technologist association is preferred. Other designations such as EIT or AME license will be considered.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office suite, CAD software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks preferred).
  • Available to travel when necessary.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of aircraft certification procedures is an asset.
  • Knowledge of aircraft structural systems and structural design requirements is an asset.
  • Familiarity with FAR 23, FAR 25, FAR 27 and FAR 29 aircraft design standards is an asset.


  • Minimum 7 years of aviation experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of related design experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated capability and competency in field of expertise.
  • Extensive experience with engineering modelling software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Design and analysis experience in aircraft structures is an asset.
  • Experience in aircraft structures installations or maintenance is an asset.
