The Intermediate Legal Counsel reports directly to the Senior Legal Counsel.

Key Performance Indicators / Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and timely counsel and support for inquiries and requests.
  • Advise on regulatory and contractual issues. Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations and present findings to the Senior Legal Counsel and project stakeholders.
  • Review applicable statutes and regulations.
  • Draft and solidify legal documents to ensure the company's full legal rights.
  • Assist with the monitoring of ongoing programs and operations to ensure legal compliance.
  • Inform management on the progress and risks of judicial procedures and transactions.
  • Communicate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authorities, etc.); establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Provide clarification on legal language or specifications for others in the organization.
  • Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the influences of the external environment in a corporation.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanor.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and team building skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Proven ability to perform well in complex matters, prioritize and deal with multiple assignments, all under significant time and other pressures.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Travel may be required.


  • 5+ years experience in Corporate and/or Contract Law (Leasing and Financing backgrounds are preferred).
  • Experience in the aviation sector considered a strong asset.
  • Litigation experience considered an asset.
  • Experience in Banking and Finance is considered an asset.
